BASICS

In 2007, Communities In Schools introduced a new concept in court referred community service.

B.A.S.I.C.S. – Building Alternative Solutions In Community Service. Judges were facing fuller dockets than ever, teens were angry and parents were confused. CIS designed a program that helps transition the teen from their court appearance to a successful completion.

B.A.S.I.C.S. Provides Individual Assessment and Placement

Some clients are not successful in a group setting and for this reason one on one sessions are available for the client to partner up with a mentor for the duration of his community service hours. Example, the custodian of a local elementary will work with the client until their hours are completed. We have several organizations (nonprofit) or members of our staff who will allow clients who have been assessed by and are being case managed by Communities In Schools to do their hours at their facilities.

Work Camps

CIS BASICS works with Sunny Beaches to offer weekend placements. Additional work camps will be held twice a month to allow clients to do their service in a physical environment. CIS monitors the clients at the additional work camps.
